The Forgotten History of Japanese Balloon Bombing
In late 1944, balloons began to appear in the skies above North America - they dropped bombs onto the land below, creating pockets of fire and destruction around the Western coast of the United States. These balloons were secret & innovative weapons; part of a bizarre and radical bombing campaign, launched by the Japanese military in a desperate attempt to destabilize the American war effort and swing the momentum of the Second World War.

Disclaimer: native americans are called ÍNDIOS in Brazil because the Portuguese thought they were in India when they discovered Brazil (yes, Brazil was discovered separately from the american continent according to Brazilian history, because of the rivalry of Spain and Portugal) This is why natives are called indians and people form India are called indianos) Ironically Portugal would find the Pacific route to India and colonized one city there).

I think it’s so interesting that this is just A Thing that happens to people. Any hobby tunnelists that I have ever met or heard of always start digging for a very practical reason (like making a cellar) and then just… can’t stop.

I'm going to be honest, I really love your last two videos but wasn't really all that excited to watch this one so I put it off. Boy was that silly. This video was really great, well researched, compelling, so good. So I thought about why I wasn't excited to click on it in the first place if I like your other videos and I think it's the thumbnail. "Japans Secret Weapon" with the balloon thing made it seem like I was going to hear about a story I already knew. When it fact it was a story I'd heard about but didn't really know. My advice would be to change the thumbnail to say something like "The First ICBM" or something. I feel ridiculous even writing a comment like this but I really spent a good chunk of time thinking about this haha.

It's sad to see that people are calling these types of videos a "LEMMiNO" Genre, Although It's true that It's very close to LEMMiNOs videos, no one really own any style,. YES, LEMMiNO did bring these 'mysterious' and 'enduring' types of videos with It's memorable Black and White/Gray Color to light, but It's not kind or appreciating to call another youtubers videos a "LEMMiNO Style" but nevertheless, these videos sure are captivating and very enjoyable to watch, made by LEMMiNO or Whomever. all the best LNS!

Imagine trudging through that brutal God forsaken jungle, hacking every step w a machete, the bugs and snakes and animals, the heat and the hunger, all w the overblown hubristic certainty of the colonial British old chap mindset, looking for a fever dream of a city, to never know you were walking OVER it the whole time, dismissing the area as "all wrong" but continuing to state, "we're close, so close i can feel it! I can taste it! We are so close, boys!"
